I Fought the Tooth-fairy and I Won

Parenting comes with a long list of titles: chef, chauffeur, therapist, referee.

But sometimes?

You add Tooth Fairy Bounty Hunter to the résumé.

My son lost a tooth.

But the Tooth Fairy? She lost credibility.

She forgot him…again

He was around 10 or 11, just old enough to know better, but still young enough to want the magic.

And the magic didn’t show up.

There was no money, no glitter and no note.

Just disappointment… again.

He texted me:

“Is the Tooth Fairy dead? Because I got nothing.”

I could’ve blamed exhaustion or some vague fairy scheduling error.

But instead, I told him I was going to handle it.

“I’ll find her. And I’ll fight her.”

And then I did.

I came home with:

• Hair that looked like I’d been in combat

• Glitter in places glitter should never be

• An envelope full of hush money

I told him the Tooth Fairy put up a fight, but I won.

She’d be in the ICU for a few days.

And yes… she bleeds glitter.

His eyes lit up. The betrayal was forgiven.

The magic — slightly dented — was restored.

It cost me nothing but a dollar and a little glitter.

But it gave him a story he still tells to this day.

And me?

I still sparkle when the light hits just right.

Because sometimes the most chaotic, ridiculous parenting moments…

become the ones our kids never forget

    1. Haha thank you 💕! It’s all fun and games until you’re covered in glitter and negotiating a fairy at 10 PM.

About Me

HI, I’m Jacqueline, entrepreneur by trade, mama by heart, and writer by necessity. I run a company by day and a household by…well all the time. Somewhere between scheduling client calls and cleaning up juice box disasters, I decided to start this blog. Crumbs and Chaos is my love letter to the mess, the loud, sticky and beautiful that comes from raising a big family while building a business. It’s where the professional world and the parenting trenches collide. Where the invisible hero can be seen and where a little grace can be cooked up.
